Vitrified means that the product is glass like, in fact all ceramics are vitrified (glass like) somewhat, thus it isn’t truly a precise description.
Vitrified Porcelain Tiles – What Are They
Fully Vitrified or porcelain tiles will have a water absorption rate of less than 0.5 percent. That means a very low water absorption and therefore may not essentially be glazed.
Tiles with increased water absorption rates (greater than six percent) are usually known as “Vitrified” when in fact they’re not .
Porcelain tiles are quite renowned, especially throughout the last ten years or so. They could be polished or textured with stunning glazed finishes.
Porcelain tiles are produced by a blend of kaolin clays, quartz, and feldspar, then fired at 1200-1300 degrees, making uniform and compact tiles.
Over the past, porcelain tiles were typically used in commercial applications for their strength, low porosity, and significant abrasion resistance. These days, owing to new techniques and lower production costs, porcelain tiles are in our homes, in living-rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens globally.
Unglazed vitrified porcelain tiles are tiles that do not get a glaze added to the surface. On the other hand it is the natural state of the clays and additives that creates the colour of the tile. One of the benefits of a vitrified porcelain tile is, if it does get cracked, the colour continues throughout the body of the tile.
Furthermore, due to its durability, a porcelain tile can be machined to generate a polished surface, a matt texture, or perhaps a rough external surface. Vitrified porcelain tiles can be produced with cut edges (rectified), so that every tile is the same size.
Remember though, mechanically enhancing the exterior of natural porcelain to a polished finish, or even a matt finish, reveals tiny micro pores on the surface of the tile. It’s for this reason that many tile manufacturers and retailers suggest that porcelain tiles be sealed – a process that seals these tiny pores.
Vitrified tiles may allow for a “full body” tile, which means that the design is not only on the outside of the tile, but runs throughout the entire body. The advantage of this is that the tiles become extremely strong and stain resistant.
Tiles could be laid with easily available tile plastic spacers, thus achieving a uniform joint.
Vitrified porcelain tiles are reasonable and imperative for your house or business.
